1. Paul starts out as large blocks of polystyrene foam.
    

2. A general outline is sketched on all sides of the foam blocks.
    

3. I start cutting away the outlines with a sawzall
    

4. Foam is added where needed and I check measurements throughout the shaping process.
    

5. More blocks of foam are added to the sculpt for the boots. Paul is now 12’ tall.
    

6. I continue to take away foam revealing details of the sculpture.
